Welcome to this tutorial on how to magnetise the Tyranid Toxicrene/Maleceptor dual kit from Games Workshop. In this tutorial I have used 5x1mm magnets that I got from my local hobby store, these magnets are also available on eBay. The only parts that really need to be magnetised are the two head and arm options, so lets do this...
First, I glued a magnet onto a small piece of plasticard, and then green stuffed this peice inside the body as pictures below. The next stage will have to be done whilst the green stuff is wet, so don't just stick this piece in place and leave it to dry...
Next, glue a magnet onto the Maleceptor head, and position the head onto the body. With the green stuff in the body still wet, you can then adjust the plasticard so that the head fits perfectly. When it is dry, put some green stuff into the hole on the Toxicrene head, and glue a magnet into it. With this section wet and the green stuff on the body dry, you can then adjust the magnet on the second head to make it also fit perfectly...
Right, now to the arms, just cut off a section at the top of the arms so that you can fit a magnet to it like this...
To stop the tentacled arms of the Toxicrene from dropping forward, just add a little pin next to the magnet, lining it up with the body with another small hole. Then just add a magnet to the joint on the body as pictures next...
That's it, all done, but if you want to see me magnetise this in more detail, I also made a video here...
