Stingerfex Nid List

Having recently finished my magnetised Carnifex, I thought I would squeeze him into one of my lists and see how he would perform. I decided to take my Dual Loc list and switch a Mawloc out for him in a pod. I had to tweak the list a little as he is a bit more expensive with his pod, but it still looks like a strong list to me...

Carnifex Conversions ready for the new Codex

With all the rumours going around that the Carnifex is going to get back to where it was in the upcoming new Codex, I thought it was about time I got my old 3rd Edition lump of metal painted up! Although I made my first Fex with Scything talons, I wanted to magnetise this one up with all the weapon options just in case. First, I glued some 5x1mm magnets into his armpits, then I went about making the current weapon options out of the old guns I had in my bitz box...

I still think he looks pretty cool, even for a 3rd Edition model, now to paint him up...

Bringing the broods to life - Carnifex Revisited!

As I painted my Zoanthropes, I couldn't help but think about my recently painted Carnifex, and how I didn't blend the Scything Talons! I originally opted to give them a basic layering of highlights so that I could get out as many painted bugs as I could. This works fine on the smaller Talons and horns, but the larger Talons were really starting to bug me (no pun intended), they just didn't live up to my expectations and I just had to start blending them.

Here is a picture of the Carnifex with the original basic layering...

I am no blending expert, but I was sure with a little extra time I could get these ok looking Talons looking a bit better! So out came the black paint to start again...

Bringing the broods to life - Carnifex

Here is the latest brood in The Stinger Hive Fleet to get a coat of paint. I do plan on revisiting it at a later date to do some blending work on the scything talons, but at this stage, I just want to push out as many painted models as I can...
