Nick speaking,
I had my first couple of games of the Battleforce Recon mission the other day. It has to be said that 40k at 500 points is always good fun and it is really great to see that GW has included one of these missions in the 6th Edition rule book. The first game I played on the night was against a Grey Knight force with Draigo, an Inquisitor and two Chimera's (proxy) full of Henchmen. I had my Eldar force ready to go with my much needed Runes of Warding, which hopefully would shut down some of his powers and give me a chance to get my Wraithlord and fortuned Dire Avengers into range. There were a few interesting things I noticed over the course of my two games and the other games I watched that night...
1/ Out of all the games we played we didn't have one assault!
2/ The person who went first always won!
3/ A 4'x4' board with a small deployment zone is surprisingly big when you only have 500pts!
4/ This mission requires decent long range and mid range shooting power, preferably on troops!
Next up, my Eldar take on Blood Angels...

I understand about the person who goes first wins. You should try restricting your choices. No 2+ sv, no model more than 2+ wounds, no vehicle with greater accumulative than AV 32. Ok it means you can't play all the models you want but makes for a more even game.
ReplyDeleteYeah, just like the old Patrol mission, may have to try that next time to put a spin on it :D
