Nick Speaking,
So the last Elite choice to get a New Codex Review, is the ever talked about Necron Pariah! Unfortunately my Pariahs never make it out of the case these days, and that's a shame because I love the model, but at thirty six points each they are just way too over priced for what they can do!
Ok, they have good shooting ability and a Warscythe, but with just one attack at Initiative three and no WWB, they just don't cut it. Out of all the Necron units the Pariah are probably in need of the biggest changes.
How will GW correct them? Two wounds each? Initiative four? Two plus save? Or a massive points reduction? Personally, I don't mind paying the points if they are worth it, but lets face it, if anyone is going to take a unit of ten, then a points reduction is definitely needed.
So come on, lets have your say. What should GW do to sort out the Necron Pariah?
I have to agree that they just won't make it to many lists if they reduce their points, but maybe making them 30 points a model would save you 60 points when taking 10. All I know is that they shouldn't lose out in abilities for the points exchange. That said, I think they should gain FNP and +1 initiative and be able to be teleported around the board. I think that they should do away with certain units not being considered "Necron" units and at the very least drop Phase Out to 10% not 25%.
ReplyDeleteI meant to say "if they DON'T reduce their points..."
ReplyDeleteI'm not so worried about the PO rule. If we do get some more machines and some tweaks on our current ones, then it will actually be interesting to have Pariahs as non-Necron rule units. I'd want to see Destroyer mounted Pariahs for a new version. If the Lord gets the Tomb Spyders to turn on the Gauss Blaster on his Warscythe, then a bunch of them with D-bodies skimming around would be interesting.
ReplyDeleteAnother option would be to have permanent Lightning Fields on them. Maybe even Counterattack.
Another might be to turn the Psychic Abomination into a Ld test to charge them, or better yet, any time a unit tries to charge Pariahs, they have to treat the terrain as difficult.....welcome to I1 on the attack.
Pariahs x2 attacks at WS 4, I2 vs I1 attackers, plus Lighting Field auto hits for every wound taken, it might be interesting.
I actually like Pariahs as a high cost unit where there can only be one. I'd just like to see them more capable.
Pariahs with destroyer bodies! I like that idea. Thanks for all the comments BTW.
ReplyDeleteAbout the only time I use pariahs now is with Flayed Ones. Combine Soulless with the Flayed Ones ability of Terrifying Visage and watch a squad of 10 Flayed ones take out a squad of 20 Nobs.
