Nick speaking,
It's that time again. Aceface and myself are going to battle it out on the 40k battle field, but this time, we are level on game wins with two games each. I have made a big come back winning the last two games we have played, so the pressure is all on me! Just in case you have not done so already, please don't forget to go over to Aceface's Channel and give him a sub, I know he would really appreciate it, and if nothing else, it's worth checking out just to see the sight of his brand new 'best painted' Tau Army...
OK, so what army do I play? I have thought long and hard about that, but I finally came to a decision of playing my Flayed One Necron themed army. I'm not sure how I came to that decision to be honest, but one thing I new I wanted for the list against Aceface, was to mix things up from my normal Flayed One army, which is usually three units of twenty Flayed Ones...
One of the reasons for a change in the list is because of the missions, as we will be playing a Maelstrom mission. Not only that but from my experience of using three large units of Flayed Ones, usually one of the units don't tend to do anything all game. So it's fair to say that I had already been thinking about splitting the units down to six units of ten anyway. With Maelstrom being the mission, I have opted for eight smaller units for this game, so effectively only using forty Flayed Ones with my two Canoptek Harvests. That has freed up some points for a few extra tricks in the list, to hopefully give Aceface a surprise or two...

I plan on deploying in a central position with the two Spyders hiding behind the Monolith, with the idea of keeping them safe at the beginning of the game for the RP bonus, and so that they can both repair any damage the Monolith takes. The Wraiths and Scarabs will head up at the sides of the Monolith, with the Overlord, Immortals and Warriors at the back. I will infiltrate the Flayed Ones, unless I feel the need to hold back a couple of units for deep strike. The Tomb Blades will take the weakest flank as they will be doing their best to not give First Blood away...
On my turn one I will advance forward and spread out, getting as many objectives as I can, at this stage the Wraiths and Spyders will stay in range to maintain RP from the Spyder the next turn. The Wraiths, Scarabs and Flayed Ones will only attack if I really need to, as I want to have as many units that I can move about to get objectives as I can...
Towards the end of the game I expect to be heavily damaged, but I hope to have got enough points from the tactical objective cards to be up in points. At any stage during the game I have the option of Veiling the Overlord and his Immortals, this will be to either grab an objective, take out a weak enemy unit or to get line breaker if the Tomb Blades aren't around to get that. Assuming the Monolith survives, I have the ability to teleport the Overlord unit back to my lines after it has Veiled, or to teleport other units during the game.
That's the general plan, but how will the game go and what will Aceface bring to the table to try and stop my third win in a row! Battle report to follow soon...
